2020 caused pain. I found myself depressed, angry, and lost. Dealing with the most difficult breakup of my life and strife with my family, I did not know where to go. In 2021, I came back to Montana State University after dropping out in 2015. I took a portraiture class that semester and was tasked with making a series for 4 months. I turned the camera on myself.
Starting Over (Bad Habits) is a self-portrait series looking in on who I was at the time: that angry, sad, and confused man. Through reflections, shadows, and mirrors, I translated my difficulty confronting my past while trying to remain hopeful about a less chaotic future.
